Baby’s grandfather shoots dead the child’s father as he held his son during a custody disagreement By Valerie Edwards For Dailymail.com and Associated Press A 61-year-old grandfather was arrested after he allegedly shot dead the father of his three-week-old grandson while the infant’s dad was holding the child. Youngstown police said they initially responded to a routine and calm domestic dispute over custody of the infant. But when officers arrived, things took a deadly turn as the boy’s grandfather, Louis Littlejohn, allegedly shot dead the child’s father, 27-year-old Charles Pargo. Police said the shooting occurred after the two men got into an argument over the infant’s custody around 10.30pm on Monday. ‘The parents got into an argument and the mother left the house,’ Capt Brad Blackburn told WKBN. ‘The grandparents went over to the house to try and retrieve the child from the father.’ And at one point the officers thought the issues had been resolved between Littlejohn and Pargo, who would keep the baby. But police said as the officers were leaving the home, the ‘grandfather ran back into the house and shot the father as he was holding the child’. Littlejohn then walked back outside, dropped the gun and surrendered. The baby boy was not injured, but Pargo died at the scene. Authorities said the two men also had an altercation last November. At that time, Littlejohn told officers Pargo had threatened him and that he knew Pargo often carried a gun. Littlejohn, of Liberty Township, was charged with aggravated murder. An Ohio judge set his bond at $1 million.
