Boy, four, is killed after being caught in a hail of bullets aimed at the driver of a nearby car

A four-year-old Illinois boy died after being shot multiple times outside his Peoria home in what police are calling an ambush attack intended for someone else.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said on Tuesday that Jeremiah Ward succumbed to massive internal bleeding caused by three gunshot wounds to the back and arm.

The toddler was fatally shot and a 23-year-old man was wounded when 22 rounds were fired in the parking lot of the Lincoln Terrace Apartments complex on West Ann Street
