Breaking the Cycle: Ask God for help

Praise the Lord Saints.

For starters, there will be a Prayer Vigil this Sat., Feb. 14 in the Greater Mount Zion AME parking lot, located at 1045 16th St. S., down from the Trop from 8:30–9:30 a.m.

The vigil will be for the L5 elementary schools: Campbell’s Park, Fairmount Park, Lakewood, Maximo, and Melrose.  The L5 schools are at the lowest in performance throughout Pinellas County and we believe in the power of prayer.

You know that saying by the elderly: “You just keep living?” Well, it couldn’t be truer today than ever before.

I have always been a very inquisitive lad wanting to know as much as my little brain could absorb.  And 2014 has shown me this one thing, no one person can know it all nor could they retain it.  God told Solomon that no one before him or after him would know more than him because of his faithfulness to do God’s will for his people.

I have said this time and time again that as long as you are striving to do God’s will, He would take care of your needs and even some of your wants and desires.  It’s conditional though; your foundational drive must be to please God and Him alone if you desire the blessings of God.  I have tried endlessly to do so and well it has paid off in ways I could have never imagined it to be.

This brings me to the subject today I want to address.

I have been engulfed this past year with partnering and fellowshipping with various people and groups to bring about a level of awareness as to the spiritual war Satan has been winning with regards to taking over cities and communities throughout the nation one by one.  The reality is he has been doing so ever since he was exiled from heaven and placed here on earth by God for his feeble attempt to take over heaven and God himself. (Isa 14: 12-…, Luke 10: 18, Rev 9: 1)

Some of the battles various organizations have been fighting have proven to be ones that they were fighting without being fully aware Satan was at the helm and you can never win a spiritual battle worldly minded.  God never striped Satan of his power of influence, persuasion or deception, and if you are not spiritually minded or have a spiritual perspective when going into battle against a spirit-led army, you are destined to lose every time.

Eph. 6 clearly explains this in detail and gives us the warning prior to attempting to do battle with demonic spirit-led foes.  Yes we quite it so what from time to time but never really apply it or at least not all of it.

It clearly says the whole armor and pay particular attention to verses 10, 13, 16, 17, and 18.

Verse 10 says you have to be strong in the Lord and not in self or status and the power is in His might, not your intellect, brawn, or prowess.

Verse 13 reemphasizes the whole armor of God and without it you will not be able to stand against spiritual wickedness.

Verse 16 clearly says above all or this is the most important of all of the pieces of armor to put on the shield of faith.  Having it you will be able to quench or defeat or withstand “all” of Satan’s attacks. (Heb 11: 6)

Verse 17 says there is but one weapon you will need in this battle and every other spiritual battle, the Word of God.  The same weapon Jesus himself used to defeat Satan when He was tempted by Satan.  If you have noticed, I always use lowercase when writing Satan’s name because I don’t acknowledge him.  If it is then the publishers changed it.  (Matt 4: 1-11)

Having said all this, when I saw all the comments posted on Facebook the day after the decision came from the SPHA, it led me to believe that maybe, just maybe when the battle ensued, someone’s eyes were not focused solely on that of the Lord and His mighty power. God is an omnipotent God having all power, omniscient knowing all things and omnipresent or ubiquitous being everywhere all at the same time.

Moving forward, it’s not too late to call on Him to open a window or door that maybe you didn’t know existed before.

I know it’s not too late for our kids and with the strategic planning that’s to be implemented and engaged, it’s going to be tough but I know the God I serve is able to do exceedingly and abundantly ALL, somebody say ALL, that we may ask or think.

I challenge you to Google the “Willie Lynch letter” and the book the “Conspiracy to Destroy Black Boys” or YouTube the Sister Dr. Julie Hare.

When you start to open up your mind to the possibility that there just might be something more than what you believe to be the truth, truth will knock you back so far you will challenge just what you thought you knew.

All I know is my God is an awesome God and He promised to never leave me nor forsake me and also that if I desired knowledge all I had to do was ask and He would willingly give it to me.

Be careful what you ask for because it might reveal things you just might be ready for unless you are spiritually sound and rooted in the faith.

Don’t treat the Word of God like a history book in school, use it as a study manual for living a spiritually victorious overcoming life full of afflictions and heartache but coupled with love, joy, longsuffering, and faith.

Till next week,

God Bless – Dr. Rob
