Chris Bosh talks about his blood clots
By Jeff Zillgitt, USA TODAY Sports
In the debut episode of Rebuilt, the original series of shorts produced and directed by Chris Bosh for UNINTERUPTED, the Miami Heat forward offers perspective on his two blood clot issues that forced him to miss the final two months of the past two seasons and reiterated his desire to play in the NBA again.
In the opening segment, Bosh said, “You’re your true yourself in your lowest moments.”
After the first diagnosis of blood clots and a pulmonary embolism in 2015, Bosh recalled that “You don’t know how to take it. Life gets shortened into smaller bites. … I was happy to be alive. I was happy just to have the smallest things.”
After the second diagnosis of blood clots in February, Bosh said doctors told him his career was likely over.
“I felt right away that I was written off. … I have the right to disagree with you. It wasn’t a matter of if I’m going to play again, it’s when.”
Bosh maintains he will play this year but he needs to be cleared by team doctors. The Heat have not said anything publicly about Bosh’s status. Training camp opens next week for most NBA teams.
