An Alabama pastor known for his contentious church signs is drumming up more controversy by telling back people to stop attending white churches.

Reverend Michael R. Jordan, the pastor of the all-black New Era Baptist Church in Birmingham, said he put up a new sign on Saturday.

One side reads ‘Black folks need to stay out of white churches’ and the other side says ‘white folks refused to be our neighbor’.

The other side of the sign read, 'white folks refused to be our neighbors'. Pastor Michael R. Jordan said the signs were in response to a predominately white megachurch moving into the area

Jordan, who is black, said the sign is in response to a predominately white megachurch announcing its plans to move into an urban area of the city.

Chris Hodge, founding pastor of Church of the Highlands, recently announced that he would be opening a new branch in the same neighborhood where New Era Baptist Church is located.
