Eta Rho Chapter’s founder greets new Basileus

BY TOM PACKER Guest Writer

St. Petersburg – Eta Rho Chapter-Omega Psi Phi Fraternity dawned a new day as Brother Mordecai Walker, the last of the original seven chapter founders, greeted Ivan Tucker, the newly elected chapter Basileus for 2015.

Walker, along with six other men of Omega, founded the Eta Rho Chapter in 1962. Those men were James Jackson, Sr., James Chapman, Louis O. Harper, Ervin Rouson, Robert Williams and Cyrus Everette.

Walker continues to serve as a valued chapter member and advisor to Brother Tucker and the chapter’s executive board of directors.

Tucker was successful in bringing before the chapter and receiving a unanimous vote that all of brother Walker’s dues would from henceforth be borne by Eta Rho Chapter.

Walker, a graduate of Tennessee State University, pledged Rho Psi in 1950 and is proud of the fact that he has never missed a chapter meeting.

As Tucker implements his vision for the future of Eta Rho, he is honored to have by his side a man that has been an active member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity for 65 years.
