FAMU welcomes athletes in a first-ever All Sports Reunion

TALLAHASSEE — Some of the greatest athletes to walk the highest of seven hills will return to the campus of Florida A& M University Sept. 12.

The Florida A&M University Athletic Department in partnership with the FAMU All Sports Reunion 2019 Planning Committee has an inaugural fun-filled weekend of planned activities honoring all student-athlete alumni involved in intercollegiate collegiate sports at the university.

“FAMU is excited about the opportunity to welcome back former athletes, coaches and supporters to their old stomping grounds,” said Alvin Hollins, sports information, assistant director at FAMU. “The reunion is especially exciting because it’s also the same weekend as the 43rd Annual Enshrinement Ceremony for the Sports Hall of Fame where eight people will be inducted.”

The reunion will have many activities that will give the athletes a chance to reunite with former teammates, coaches, sports program directors and the administrative sports staffs of their era.

Event schedule:

  • All Sports Reunion Mixer held at the president’s home on Friday, Sept. 13
  • All Sports Reunion Brunch at the Capital City Country Club on Saturday, Sept. 14
  • All Sports Reunion Football Tailgate on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 14
  • Recognition by Sport at the Jake Gaither Classic Football Game on Saturday night, Sept. 14.

“It’s really about the former student-athletes being able to reconnect with Florida A&M and reconnect with the athletics program and meet the current coaches,” Hollins said. “But, most importantly, it’s a chance to come home and see how much the athletics program has grown since they were students at FAMU.

The registration fee for the All Sports Reunion is $150, which includes two tickets to the All Sports Reunion Mixer, two tickets to the Reunion Brunch, two tickets to the Jake Gaither Football Game, admission to the Football Tailgate and the official All Sports Reunion 2019 t-shirt.
