Free hair care for students provided by Inspiration Hair Studio

ST. PETERSBURG — For a second year, Pinellas Opportunity Council, Inc. (POC) partnered with Inspirations Hair Studio, 3700 18th Ave. S, to provide free hairdos and haircuts to low-income students returning to Pinellas County Schools.

Shop owner Jessica Bryant, along with 10 other hairstylist, stylist assistants and a barber once again opened her shop Sun., Aug. 23 to students referred by POC. This effort sent students back to school looking awesome and feeling excited to have a clean fresh look to start the school year.

This back-to-school event is one of many Bryant has participated in since 2008. She decided to give back to the community by sponsoring her own event after opening her shop last April.

Other stylist participating included: Tenise Crum-Gay, Shonna Scott, Ife Davis, Amber Sheppard, Krystal Spaulding, Angel Battle and Marion Davis.  Stylist assistants included Jackie Blair and Quana Brown, and barber Jerrod Sheppard rounded out the crew.

Kids and parents expressed their gratitude and appreciation to the stylist and POC for the opportunity to get their hair done. Some stated how happy it made the entire family to see the smiles on the faces of the children.

POC was excited to collaborate with Inspiration Hair Studio, and was pleased with the opportunity to serve the community.
