Inspirational Hair Studio Collaborates with Pinellas Opportunity Council Inc.

ST. PETERSBURG — Inspirational Hair Studio, 3700 18th Ave. So., partnered with Pinellas Opportunity Council, Inc. (POC) Sun., Aug. 17 to provide free hairdos and haircuts to low income and homeless students returning to Pinellas County schools.

These students, referred by POC were so excited to have a “fresh look” for the new school year. Shop owner Jessica Bryant opened her heart and her shop to a total of 35 children from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m., providing perms, wash & straightening, weaves, haircuts, etc.

This back-to-school event is one of many that Byrant has participated in since 2008. She opened her own salon in April of this year and immediately decided that she would give back to the community by sponsoring her own back-to-school event.

This event also included food (chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, ribs, macaroni & cheese, baked beans, tuna salad and beverages), which was donated by Bryant and prepared by her husband, Robert Bryant.

Girls, HairEach child received school supplies that were donated by customers, community and staff, and some were privileged to free manicures. Staff assisting her in this effort included hairstylist Shaneeka Nixon, assistant Jackie Henderson Blair, barber Maurice Williams and volunteer Joyce Hall.

Kids left her shop that day with many smiles of confidence and ready to take on another school year. Parents expressed their gratitude and appreciation for Byrant’s kindness.

A special thank you to Bryant and Inspirational Hair Studio from POC. We look forward to partnering with them in the near future.
