Next up: Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

By Jayda Parkes-Quarrie

Hello, my name is Jayda Parkes-Quarrie. I am 12 years old, and I love to bake cookies.

Since the pandemic, I started watching YouTube videos about baking and wanted to try different cookie recipes of my own. I started experimenting with different kinds of cookies.

First, I started by making chocolate chip cookies. My chocolate chip cookies turned out to be crunchy on the edges and soft in the middle. The second time I baked chocolate chip cookies, I incorporated caramel in the middle of the cookie.

My mom gave me the idea of making a turtle cookie, so with the turtle cookie, I added chocolate chips, caramel and pecans. My favorite and the best one yet was the chocolate chip coconut cookie! I added chocolate chips and coconut flakes, and it was really good!

In my last cookie, I made lemon cookies. Those cookies were good as well. I used fresh lemons from my grandparents’ tree and needed my mom’s help with this one because I had to zest the lemons. They were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside and you could taste the lemon really well. I think I will use less lemon juice next time.

I had a lot of fun baking all of these cookies and will continue experimenting with different kinds of cookies in the future. Next on the list, oatmeal raisin.
