Nurse, 29, found strangled to death, naked on floor of her New York with teeth missing, tongue hanging out

Samantha Stewart, 29, was found strangled to death on the floor of her bedroomA young nurse has been found strangled to death on the floor of her bedroom in New York City.

Samantha Stewart, 29, was discovered with her teeth knocked out, her tongue hanging out and covered in a white sheet at her home in Brookville, Queens.

Her 17-year-old brother found her at the address near JFK Airport after the family grew worried when she did not answer her phone.

Keniel Stewart ran into the house on Tuesday evening when he made the horrifying discovery, the New York Post reported.

He said: ‘I took a glimpse of her and went back outside.

‘That’s not how I wanted to remember her, so I didn’t want to see her.’

Police are treating the case as a homicide after a medical examiner said the nurse had died of ‘manual strangulation’.

No-one has been arrested so far. Police said they had found no signs of forced entry into the home but are reportedly seeking the nurse’s boyfriend.

Samantha’s father Kenneth described her as ‘very sweet, beautiful and charming’.

He told ABC: ‘I turned her over trying to shake her and say Samantha and no response. She was dead.’

Her aunt, Ruby Dixon, said Stewart, who had six brothers and sisters, was the ‘shining star in this family’.

Stewart worked at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset and had apparently last spoken to her family on her way to work the day before she died.
