Pastor’s Corner: God has a purpose

God closes a door – no one can open

God opens a door – no one can close

WHY?

God has a purpose. God has a plan for the earth and each one of us. He created all things for His good pleasure and glory. And that includes you. However, when some got “grown,” having been socialized to think that we can do whatever we’re old and big enough to do – became rebellious.

To add to that fray, false prophets begin bewitching them with deceitful thoughts that they as a child of God can do whatever, whenever, wherever and with whomever they wanted to because they were no longer under the Law; but ‘grace’ [unearned favor]. If you see it, believe it’s yours and you can achieve it; if you don’t let anyone turn you around.

This happened during the days of Noah [Genesis 6,7]. God saw the wickedness, of mankind and it grieved God in His heart. He said that he would destroy mankind off the face of the earth. But, one person’s family found grace and favor in the eyes of God.

It was Noah. Noah did as the Lord commanded him to do. Noah had faith in what God was going to do. He preached for 120 years without a single convert [a big crowd can be found in a church house and in a grave yard; it proves absolutely nothing]. Noah and his family were the only ones saved. Why? God shut the door to the Ark that no one could open regardless of what they believed or how bad they wanted to.

The door to God’s plan of salvation is soon to be closed to the Gentiles [Romans 11, 12]. God could abruptly close the door on your opportunity to become His child by your death [Hebrews 9:27] or the Rapture of the Church [Matthew 24,44]. Those doors can’t be opened. [Matthew 25]

God closing doors is not telling you that He does not care. Rather, God closes and opens doors that no one can open or close simply because He is sovereign, wisdom, gracious and love. He is able to lead us to what is best. No person, organization or group is able to know what is best for using the short run nor for eternity except the Lord. In other words, God loves us too much to allow us to go where the angels fear to tread.

Do not get discouraged when you get rejected for a special job, by a certain relationship or a promotion. Too many of God’s children are disillusioned and hurting. They have lost their peace because God ordered their footsteps in another direction.

A song that has been dancing through my mind in the past few days: my spirit knew it, but I couldn’t quite intellectually clearly connect the words to this song. However, this song impressed me that these were the anguished prayers being cried by the righteous unto our Heavenly Father. In order to enhance my understanding of what the Spirit was saying to the Body of Christ, the Church – I YouTubed it. It has been a while since this song was on the charts. James Cleveland recorded in the 80s. It’s called ‘Peace, be still’.

Check it out! Some of the words are: “Master, the tempest is raging. The billows are tossing high. The sky is o’ershadowed with blackness. No shelter or help is nigh. Carest thou not that we perish? How canst thou lie asleep? When each moment so madly is threatening a grave in the angry deep? The winds and the waves shall obey thy will. Peace, be still. Whether the wrath of the storm-tossed sea or demons, or men, or whatever it be. No water can swallow the ship where you lie. The Master of ocean and earth and sky. They all shall sweetly obey thy will.”

We are charged by the Almighty to follow and seek peace above all else. Know Jesus – Know Peace! No Jesus – No Peace!

That Ark of safety today is God’s Body/Church in which He’s the Head. He wants you to open the door that can’t be closed by anyone [Revelation 3:20] God is waiting for you. Stop trying to live life your way! You may be alienated, ignored or shunned by the world, but let Him in today and find rest for your soul and experience our LORD’s doings in your life!
