White retired firefighter jailed 4 to 10 years for shooting at a lost black teen

A white retired firefighter has been sentenced to four to 10 years in prison for shooting at a black teenager who came to his Detroit home asking for directions to school.

Jeffrey Zeigler was dressed in a gray jumpsuit and had his hands shackled as he apologized for shooting 14-year-old Brennan Walker before being sentenced in Oakland County court on Tuesday.

A jury had convicted the 53-year-old last month for assault and gun crime.

The teen told police he had missed a school bus on the morning of April 12 and knocked on Zeigler’s door in Rochester Hills after getting lost.
