Diddy’s son ‘only got onto UCLA because his father is a celebrity’ claims coach who recruited him
P. Diddy’s son Justin Combs only made it onto the UCLA football team because of his famous father, claims the university coach that recruited him.
Former UCLA football coach Rick Neuheisel revealed on his Sirius XM radio show ‘the fact his father was an influential guy played into my decision’ to recruit the teen, in the wake of Diddy’s alleged attack on assistant coach Sal Alosi.
He admitted that Justin, at 5ft9in, was too small to play competitively and that his famous father was the deciding factor.
‘What I learned was they were going to let this go, because the UCLA folks didn’t want to press charges. But when the campus police arrived on the scene, they looked at the film.’
Meanwhile, football coaches at UCLA apparently want the felony charges against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs dropped.
TMZ, quoting ‘sources directly connected’ with the football program, claimed the athletics staff think a court case would be bad for the college team. It was added head coach Jim Mora doesn’t want a criminal prosecution to go ahead.
Instead, the staff would like the 45-year-old Bad Boy For Life singer banned from the field.
The rapper was taken into custody by campus cops on Monday afternoon after he allegedly attacked coach Sal Alosi at an athletics facility on the UCLA campus
TMZ’s sources said the police were called by an intern who witnessed the altercation between Diddy and Alosi.
When officers arrived, they asked to see the security video of what happened and that’s when they arrested the music producer.
Diddy has been charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, one count of making terrorist threats, and one count of battery.
He was released from LA County jail late Monday night after posting bail
On Tuesday, the rap mogul issued a statement saying he had only acted in self-defense to protect himself and his 21-year-old son.
TMZ said the case will go to the L.A. County D.A. for felony review next week.
The incident occurred after Diddy had watched his son Justin Combs, who’s part of the Bruins football program, take part in a coaching session.
He apparently took issue with the way the strength and conditioning coach was treating his kid and confronted him about it in his office.
In the ensuing altercation, it’s alleged Diddy shouted ‘I’m gonna f**k you up’ and also swung at Alosi with a kettlebell.
In his statement, he claimed reports about the fight are ‘inaccurate’ and he expects the charges against him will be dropped.
Justin, meanwhile, showed support for his dad by posting an Instagram of the two of them with the caption: ‘I thank God for having a father that’s always there for me.. Love you pops!’
The star then reposted the same image with the caption: ‘#FAMILYFIRST.’
