LA Rams running back Tre Mason fails to show up at training camp, concerns for mental health
LA Rams running back Tre Mason hasn’t showed up for training camp – and prompting worries about his mental health.
The 22-year-old has not been in touch with anyone in the organization since the end of last season.
But they have been more concerned by a series of bizarre run-ins with police in recent months near his home in Palm Beach, Florida.
The former Auburn star has also been ‘evaluated’ as a result of his out-of-character behavior, according to reports.
He is even said to have made threats to call the White House and made strange comments about Al Qaeda, according to reports
According to TMZ, he has been at the center of five incidents involving cops in the last four months.
Coach Jeff Fisher confirmed that he hasn’t spoken to Mason, but is also far more concerned with his behavior than his attendance.
According to CBS Sports, Fisher said: ‘I haven’t personally spoken with Tre since the season ended.
‘I tried numerous times to reach him. Tre has made a decision not to communicate with us, not to talk. Not talking to his teammates.
‘Right now we’re more concerned about Tre Mason’s well-being than we are his football career.’
In the most recent incident, on July 23, Mason’s mother called the police.
Authorities arrived at her Florida home after Mason was ‘acting unusual and making irrational statements.’
He is also alleged to have threatened to call the White House and have the police fired.
Then he is believed to have made strange statements about Al Qaeda.
Cops noticed a hole in the wall of Mason’s bedroom, and a cut on his hand for which he refused medical attention.
In a police report obtained by TMZ, one officer wrote: ‘I believe that Trence does not have the [redacted] ability to make decisions at this time and therefore he was transported to [redacted] where he was treated for the laceration and admitted for evaluation under the [redacted].’
Four months ago, Mason was arrested in Hollywood, Florida, for reckless driving and possessing marijuana, according to reports.
He was the second choice behind Todd Gurley, but there was still a chance he would have been involved in their offense.
