Authorities said Jasmine Samuel, 25, called 911 early on Thursday to report that she had been forced into the trunk of her 2014 black Nissan Maxima.

The mother-of-two was found dead from a gunshot in her car about an hour and a half later.

Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said at a news conference on Thursday that authorities are searching for Samuel’s ex-boyfriend, 62-year-old David Payne.

Detectives said her death was part of a domestic dispute.

Payne, who authorities said is armed, is charged with first-degree murder and armed kidnapping, according to Fox 35.

Deputies said Samuel had taken a break at 12.30am during her shift at packaging company Sonoco Products when she went into the parking lot and encountered co-worker, Payne.

Demings said Payne forced Samuel into the trunk of her car from where she was able to call 911, staying on the phone with dispatchers for about 15 minutes until they lost contact with her.

Based on her account, deputies were able to locate the area where she had been kidnapped and started searching for her in an industrial area of south Orlando.

After being unable to reach Samuel, an extensive search for her ensued which included more than 24 deputies, a K-9 Unit and a helicopter, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

‘He knew that the police was nearby,’ Demings said. ‘It was just very difficult to locate the precise location of the vehicle.

‘Clearly he was moving at different times, sometimes at a high rate of speed.’

Investigators found the vehicle around 2.05am, about four miles from where she was allegedly kidnapped.

Authorities said they searched the area but could not locate Payne, who is a convicted felon, according to Fox 35.

‘Do not approach Payne, as he is considered armed and dangerous,’ Demings said.

‘He has a violent criminal history, including a homicide arrest dating back to 1972.’

Payne reportedly served time in prison previously for an aggravated assault conviction and served five years in prison after pleading guilty to a 1991 robbery and kidnapping.

Samuel and Payne had recently ended a romantic relationship, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Samuel, who has two daughters ages four and seven, had reportedly told her relatives that she feared for her life, however no injunctions were filed, Demings said.

Her children are currently in the custody of family members.

‘Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family of Jasmine Samuel, and with the help of the people here in Orange County, we should be able to bring some semblance of justice to this family,’ Demings said.
