The police chief said the only person to have witnessed the murders was the victims’ young son. He added that the child was ‘very helpful’ on the call with emergency dispatchers Sunday night.

The Hamilton County District Attorney’s office on Tuesday released the audio of the call in which the 5-year-old reported the violent deaths of both his parents.

‘My mama and daddy got shot,’ the boy tells the dispatcher, who seems to be taken aback by the statement.

When asked if his parents had been fighting, the 5-year-old replies: ‘No, this dude shot them.’

Despite his young age, the boy is able to give the name of the street, describe his house and recount what happened to his parents.

‘Where were you when the shooting happened?’ the dispatcher asks the child.

‘Um, I was still at home and I started crying,’ he said, adding that he is now watching TV alone.

‘Can you tell the police officers to come?’ he asks the dispatcher.

The 911 operator then inquires of the 5-year-old if his parents are talking to him.

‘No, they dead,’ he replies. ‘And I’m by myself.’

Police officers responded to the home five minutes later and pronounced Dillard and Hicks dead on the scene.

The 24-year-old man leaves behind three young children, including the 5-year-old boy.

Hicks’ uncle, Eric Terry Sr, said her orphaned son is now staying with family members.

Terry has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for Hicks’ burial.
