The footage was taken from Booker’s 2017 visit to Uniontown and Tallassee, two communities with high percentages of African American residents that are also home to major landfills that accept trash from all over Alabama, and from other states.
“My hope is to sound the alarm, to let people know that we need to see and confront this ugliness and we need to summon the common will to do something about it,” Booker said in a one-on-one interview with Explorer’s Ryan Duffy.
