Ole Miss player expected to be one of first 2016 NFL draft picks falls from hotel window

Ole Miss football star and top NFL prospect Robert Nkemdiche has been hospitalized after falling from a wall at an Atlanta hotel.

The 21-year-old defensive lineman, who is expected to take one of the top slots in next year’s Draft broke a window at the Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckead on Saturday night.

According to police he then walked about 15 feet, climbed over a wall and fell around 15ft from the fourth floor.

Atlanta Police Department spokeswoman Kim Jones says Nkemdiche was alert and conscious when emergency responders arrived and he was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.

On Sunday evening he was in a stable condition and was suffering from ‘cuts and bruises’.

Jones says authorities found what appeared to be a small amount of marijuana in Nkemdiche’s room.

Nkemdiche, a junior at Ole Miss, is a defensive tackle from Loganville, Georgia.

The 6-foot-4, 296-pound Nkemdiche is considered a potential first-round NFL draft pick this spring.

He was the consensus top recruit in the country three years ago, anchored the Rebels’ defensive line this season and was selected to the AP All-America second team on Sunday.

Ole Miss, which has a 9-3 record this season, will face Oklahoma State in the Sugar Bowl on January 1.

Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze told ESPN in a statement: ‘We are still learning about the matter, but obviously Robert’s wellbeing is our greatest concern.’

ESPN have named him as their No.1 overall prospect for the draft, while CBS have him at number two.
