Rapist impregnated 14-year-old girl 8 months before family induced miscarriage from beating

The alleged rapist of a 14-year-old relative, who was beaten by family members to cause a miscarriage at eight months’ pregnant, has been charged with the aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Robert Joseph Cayald, 22, is accused of raping the girl in August 2012 when she was just 13 years old in Dallas, Texas.

In early 2013, four other relatives, allegedly beat the girl in a sustained six-hour attack until she was bleeding heavily and lost the baby.

They then put the stillborn baby on a grill to burn the corpse.

The four relatives who carried out the alleged attack were named as Sharon Jones, 45; her son Cedric Jones, 27; daughter Cecila McDonald, 25, and McDonald’s husband, 27-year-old Lonnell McDonald.

More horrifying details of the attack emerged after the girl, now 16, came forward in May.

The girl spoke out about her ordeal when another woman who said she was a witness to part of the assault took her to a police station.

She is in the custody of Texas Child Protective Services.

Police are unclear why the witness did not come forward before now.

The girl told police she was a virgin before the attack by her male relative and she kept the pregnancy a secret because she ‘was embarrassed’, Dallas News reported.

Family members discovered the girl was pregnant sometime between the months of January and March 2013, according to an affidavit.

At about eight months’ pregnant, she was given multiple doses of birth control pills, emergency conception Plan B pills and cinnamon tablets by one of the suspects in an attempt to abort the baby.

The girl told police that because that didn’t work, the suspects beat her for six hours, leaving her weeping in extreme pain. Two hours later, she gave birth to a stillborn child.

Cecila McDonald allegedly pinned the girl down while Lonnell McDonald ‘repeatedly bounced up and down’ on the girl’s stomach.

McDonald also repeatedly kicked and punched the teen until she was bleeding.

The relatives were reportedly worried that Child Protective Services would take away the other children who lived at the home.

The affidavit claimed that Cecila McDonald told the girl: ‘You ain’t about to get my kids taken away from me.’

The affidavit also said one of the suspects told the girl to ‘shut up’ and cry into a pillow during the assault.

The girl delivered a stillborn baby at the house in Pleasant Grove. The family members took the baby’s body and burned the remains on a charcoal grill to get rid of evidence, prosecutors alleged.

Sharon Jones reportedly paid her son Cedric $25 to ‘take care of the rest of it’.

He allegedly dumped the baby’s remains in a plastic bag at an unknown location. Police are searching for the remains which have not been found.

The victim was not taken for medical treatment after the assault but given iron tablets for her blood loss.

She left the home and went to live with a friend after the brutal assault.

Child Protective Services said six other children at the home – a 15-year-old boy, 14-year-old girl and four children, aged three, six, seven and nine – were taken into custody on Tuesday.

Sharon Jones, Cedric Jones, Cecila McDonald and Lonnell McDonald were all facing charges of engaging in organized criminal activity,

Dallas police said on Wednesday that more charges were possible. They were all being held on $150,000 bond.

Cayald is being held on $25,000.

Neighbor Keshanna Henry, 26, who lives nearby the family’s well-kept home in Pleasant Grove told the Dallas News that those who knew the family were shocked they would do something this awful.

However Ms Henry added that there was ‘something off’ with Cayald.
