NFL quarterback Trevone Boykin is under investigation for domestic violence, after his girlfriend accused him of breaking her jaw and choking her until she passed out.
Speaking with a broken jaw, which had been wired shut, Shabrika Bailey told WFAA Dallas about being attacked by Boykin last week. In addition to having her jaw broken in three places, Bailey said she also had two of her teeth knocked out.
The Seattle Seahawks, for whom Boykin played the better part of the last two years, responded by releasing him on Tuesday afternoon. Boykin’s agent did not respond to a request for comment.
Bailey, who claims she has been in a relationship with the 24-year-old Boykin since the two were high schoolers in Texas, said she was at home on March 21 when the two began to argue over a text message on her phone that she refused to show him.
The argument soon turned violent when Boykin grabbed Bailey by the throat.
‘So he goes into a choke,’ Bailey told WFAA of the former Texas Christian University star. ‘I remember him choking me and I’m trying to calm him down. And I just couldn’t. And I blacked out. I just couldn’t calm him down at all.
