From big band swing to rock n roll to pop, the blues has been a key foundation of American music – especially jazz music. Although many believe that one gave birth to the other, jazz and blues are actually cousins – different branches of the same family tree.
The Scotty Wright Quintet will perform a varied program of the blues, seen and heard and felt from a jazz perspective, with source material provided by:
BB King / Charles Brown / Willie Dixon / Robert Johnson / Charlie Parker / Duke Ellington / Buddy Johnson
