30,000 Free Books for youth impacted by storms, this Saturday at John Hopkins Middle School

Fedrick C. Ingram, secretary-treasurer of the AFT, distributes books

This Saturday, the American Federation of Teachers, Florida Education Association, and its affiliates in Pinellas County, Pinellas Classroom Teachers Association, and Pinellas Educational Support Professionals Association will be giving away 30,000 free children’s books to students, families, and educators affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton.

The book distribution is part of AFT’s “Reading Opens the World” campaign – one common sense solution in AFT’s fight for kids, families, workers, and communities – and will feature a 1,000-book donation from award-winning children’s author of the Magic Tree House series, Mary Pope Osborne.

During the giveaway attendees will hear from AFT President Randi Weingarten, PCTA President Lee Bryant, FEA Vice President Carole Gauronskas, and Pinellas County Commissioner Kathleen Peters.
