Constance M. Costley Clendening passed away March 18 at Kindred Hospital in St. Petersburg, she was 72.
Raised in the Bronx, N.Y., Constance came to St. Petersburg in 1973. She retired from the Social Security Administration after more than 40 years of service. She was an officer and member of Victory Christian Church and The Alumni Singers.
Constance was preceded in death by her son, Roger K. Clendening II. Survivors include her daughter, Rashida M. Clendening, California; her mother, Eleanora Jones, brother Herbert A. Jones, New York City; her sister, Tamala Byrd and nephew, Kai Mosby, Maryland; her sister-in-law, Leah Clendening and nephew, Djari Clendening, St. Petersburg; her sister-in-law, LaVerne Spencer and nephew, Craig Spencer, New York City; former husband, Roger K. Clendening, Colorado; and a host of loving and supportive family, friends and community members.
A memorial service will be held June 6 at 11 a.m. at Old Landmark Cathedral Church, 4201 6th St. S., St. Petersburg.
