Subject: Important Update: Change to High School Graduation Requirements

 Dear Parents and Guardians,

I want to inform you about an important change to Florida’s high school graduation policy that might affect some students this school year (2025–26). New state legislation (HB 1105) has eliminated the

Certificate of Completion as a senior exit option that allowed students to participate in graduation ceremonies even if they had not met all state requirements for a high school diploma.

 What This Means for Students:

  • Students who complete all required coursework but do not meet state testing or GPA requirements will no longer receive a Certificate of Completion or participate in graduation ceremonies.
  • Only students earning a Standard High School Diploma or a Standard Diploma on Access Points will be eligible to participate in graduation.
  • At this time, your child (insert name) is not on track to graduate, so is therefore not eligible to participate in the graduation ceremony in May 2026.

 Support and Next Steps:

We are committed to helping every student meet all the requirements for a standard diploma. Our guidance department will contact you with personalized information and support based on your student’s current graduation status.

If you have any questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We’re here to support your student’s success and celebrate their achievements.

Sincerely,
