ST. PETERSBURG – Documented Original Tuskegee Airman, Willie Rogers of St. Petersburg, turns 100 years old March 4, 2015. Willie was a Master Sergeant in the 100th Fighter Squadron of the Air Force. He has received the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest-ranking civilian honor that can be bestowed upon and individual by Congress.
Rogers earned a college degree from Claflin College of Agriculture and Mechanical Institute leading him to be selected as part of the Tuskegee group. He truly defines what it is to be an American hero, earning his place in history exemplifying fortitude and freedom for all humanity.
