ST. PETERSBURG-The Eta Rho Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, spearheaded by Chairman Jamal Gallon, celebrated their Reclamation-Retention weekend with a Saturday Brotherhood Picnic and Sunday church service.
In its continued efforts to give back to the community, the Eta Rho Chapter put on numerous social service projects that serve the greater St. Petersburg areas. The recruitment and retention of the chapter is needed to staff the many assigned duties the chapter participates in on a monthly basis.
Every two months the Eta Rho Chapter chooses an area church to visit for worship service. For the month of February, First Baptist Institutional Church, where the Reverend Wayne G. Thompson is the senior pastor, was selected.
The boys from Eta Rho will be involved in multiple events in the near future, such as the next worship service that will take place in April; the fraternity’s district meeting held in Jackson, Miss., later this month; an upcoming golf tournament in July, which will benefit the Youth Scholarship program and will provide Thanksgiving give-a-way baskets for needy families in the month of November.
