I’ve been hearing a lot lately about charter schools using our facilities and not having to pay a dime to the county to do that. So my question is , why are they getting it for free? Why can’t we make money off of them leasing our facilities ? If we have open classrooms let’s combine some schools and give them one of the schools then charge them for it, just like you charge Rclub and the YMCA for their afterschool programs. They shouldn’t be getting free front office help, free custodians, free lunch people and free security people. It’s their charter school so they should have to provide all of that for themselves and we should be able to recoup some of the loss ; especially since we’re giving them so much money per student. We can either charge them for the facility or stop giving them so much voucher money per student. It seems to me like they’re dipping in both buckets and the taxpayers of our district is losing out .
