ST. PETERSBURG — The Youth Development Foundation of the Zeta Upsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. will hold its annual AKA AKAdemy Showcase/Awards Program Sat., May 24 at the St. Petersburg Coliseum, 535 4th Ave. N., at 7 p.m.
The program kicks off the AKAdemy celebration of 20 years of continuous service to the St. Petersburg community and a 20-year partnership with the Pinellas County Juvenile Welfare Board.
The AKA AKAdemy is the signature program of the Youth Development Foundation and provides youth development services to more than 250 youth (Exquisite Gems and Pathfinders) ages 11-17 in South Pinellas County.
The AKAdemy Awards/Showcase is the culmination of a year filled with program activities, seminars, college preparatory, and various community service projects. The showcase allows the youth to end the year on a fun note and celebrate a successful program year with creativity, talent, and fashion.
Program participants will be acknowledged for their commitment to academic excellence, leadership, and character. The highlight of the program is the scholarship and graduation ceremony.

The AKA AKAdemy receives more than $109,000 annually from the Pinellas County Juvenile Welfare Board. The program is administered by the ladies of the Zeta Upsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority in collaboration with the men of the Eta Rho Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.
