Confidence in crisis

Daniel 6:3 “Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princess, because an excellent spirit was in him: and the king thought to set him over the whole realm”

I want to encourage us that we can have confidence in the midst of adversity. When I think about this passage of scripture the word that comes to mind is “Steadfast” which means to be reliable and trustworthy.

Here in the book of Daniel we see that king Darius has preferred Daniel over all others. Daniel finds favor with the king so much that he sets him over the entire kingdom. Why? Because Daniel has an excellent spirit. What does that mean? Daniel refused to vacillate when it came to the things of God. He understood leadership and because of his willingness to lead even when things were unfavorable, God grants him protection.

There will always be those around you that desire you to follow them, or those that will covet your position, they might even plot to kill your dreams and vision as well as attempt to destroy your character. But I serve notice that the Devil is no match for an almighty God. We must understand and know that our warfare is not with one another, but with spiritual wickedness in high places. The enemy will use those who submit their members unto him.

It is important that we do what Daniel did, when trouble confronted him, Daniel went into his house and prayed to the Father which was already his customary pattern. He didn’t deviate from what he knew worked “Prayer.” 1 Samuel 2:30b states that “Be it far from me. For those who honor Me will honor” and 1 Corn: 10:13 states “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able: but with the temptation also make a way to escape that ye may be able to bear it.”

What an awesome God we serve when the enemy comes in to kill, steal and destroy us, God already has a hedge of protection around us. As Daniel was thrown into the Den of Lions God protected him from harm. There were four attributes that Daniel possessed which set him apart. Daniel had an excellent spirit His character was not flawed, He refused to accept Idol worship and prayer was his weapon. Daniel had confidence in the face of a crisis. He understood Philippians 4:13 to be truth, which says “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.”

As we move throughout our week and adversity comes let’s do as Daniel did and go into our houses and pray to an almighty God who is touched with the feelings of our infirmities and when we cry out to him he is faithful to deliver us out of all of our trouble. My prayer is that we will be Steadfast and Unmovable in the things of God.

Peace and Blessings! Pastor Shurrea Daniels
