Join us as we celebrate Juneteenth and briefly discuss another ‘back to Africa’ movement that is inspiring the Black community to return to its roots.
This gathering will discuss the powerful metaphor and concept that permeates Black culture and folklore called, “Sankofa,” a Ghanaian Akan word that literally means, “to go back and get it”. We will also watch a powerful film that inspires 2019, “The Year of Return!” Viewer discretion is advised. This film contains violence and nudity. Viewing time is approximately 2 hrs 30 mins.
Returning to Africa may not be an option for all descendants of Africa, but it will be clear that time and space have minimal relevance to the spirit of sankofa. Be prepared for a life-changing experience!
