This Saturday beginning at 9 a.m., Lakeview Presbyterian Church will giveaway perishable and nonperishable at 1310 22nd Ave. S.
ST. PETERSBURG — Several organizations are coming together tomorrow to provide food and diapers to at least 150 St. Petersburg families in need of assistance. The donations, which will include two bags of nonperishable items as well as fresh meat, dairy, and produce, will be given to families on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 9 a.m. at the Lakeview Presbyterian Church located at 1310 22nd Ave. S.
The donation drive, sponsored by Operation Attack, a multi-congregational ministry dedicated to eliminating poverty for low-income families, is a partnership effort in conjunction with the Sunshine City Kiwanis Club, Circle of Faith Church, Lakeview Presbyterian Church, and Maximo Presbyterian Church will take place once a month from now until the end of the year.
Rev. Phil Miller-Evans, of the Circle of Faith Church, said participating in something like this is essential to what the church is all about.
“Circle of Faith is a progressive, socially-minded congregation,” Miller-Evans said. “It’s a part of our identity to support and serve the community.”
For families planning to attend the drive, organizers ask that you wear a mask and pop your trunk upon arrival for contactless service in an effort to keep everyone safe.
If you are interested in donating to the food drive, you can contact the Circle of Faith Church at 727-822-7178. You can also contact Operation Attack at 727-822-1187.
