I Don’t Need Your Validation!

BY DR. DORAL PULLEY

Scripture – “Thou art my Son, today have I begotten thee” (Hebrews 5:5).

Denial – Nothing in the outer world validates me.

Affirmation – My validation comes from within.

Only God can validate you. Your validation does not come from people, places, or things. You are made and approved by God; therefore, no one else’s approval is required. Your validation comes from knowing that you are God’s offspring and as such nothing that you think, say, or do can ever change that Truth (Romans 8:35-39).

Jesus, the Wayshower, received God’s validation at the Jordan River before a multitude of people (Matthew 3:1-16). The sky opened, and a voice came from heaven that said, “This is my beloved Son in whom I AM well pleased.”  God was pleased with Jesus based on his being, not based on anything he had done. Jesus was validated before he performed his first miracle or preached his first message. God validated him publicly based on who he was, God’s son.

When you feel out of sorts or unsure about yourself, remember that you are God’s son or God’s daughter. You are made in the image of God; therefore, you have unlimited divine potential. You are made in the likeness of God which is your divine actuality manifesting right here and right now. You have God’s unconditional love and eternal stamp of approval.

Reflection Question – Have you ever looked to others for validation? Under what circumstances did you feel you needed validation?  What did you feel was missing? What purpose did the validation serve for you?

Affirmation Activity – Look at yourself in the mirror and say, “I AM loved by God (pointing to your heart).” “You are loved by God (pointing at your heart’s reflection).”
