In memoriam: Reverend Sallie Mae Pelt

Reverend Sallie Mae Pelt was born January 20, 1924, in Live Oak, Fla. to the late William Harrison and Mamie Head.

She was a graduate of Douglas High School, and was employed with the Pinellas County School System, retiring in 1983.

She began her ministry in 1985 at Stewart-Isom Memorial Christian Methodist Episcopal Church and was ordained on April 18, 1993. She served as Pastoral Assistant at New Faith Free Methodist Church since its inception in 1991.

Rev. Pelt departed this life on Tuesday, May 6, 2014. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Nora Thomas.

She leaves to cherish her memories her son, Samuel Johnson of Palm Coast, Fla.; daughters Mary Church of St. Pete and Elizabeth Roberson of Ft. Myers, Fla., and a loving a devoted granddaughter, Olivia Johnson. Along with siblings Pearlie Mae Perry, William Head, both of Jacksonville, Norris Head of Tampa, General Head of Century, Fla., and Benjamin Head of Live Oak, Fla., who cherish their memories of her daily.

Also left behind are 17 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, special friend Ada Watson and a host of niece, nephews, cousins and friends.

Rev. Sallie Mae Pelt was interred at Royal Palm Cemetery North.
