ST. PETERSBURG – Omega Psi Phi Fraternity – Eta Rho Chapter presented its annual talent hunt program at the Enoch Davis Community Center May 8. The evening was filled with anticipation and excitement as students took the stage to showcase their talents in the classical arts.
The program is held for the purpose of selecting one accomplished student to represent the chapter at its Florida State organization meeting. This year the meeting will take place in Panama City Beach Florida.
Though it was difficult to select a first place winner from among so many talented students, this year’s winner was Gibbs High senior Jayson Grant. He treated the audience to a beautiful guitar composition of “Recuerdos de la Alhambra” by Francisco Tarrega.
As students successfully compete at the state and district levels, they qualify for full college scholarship consideration. Jayson is an honor student with future plans of attending Florida State University in the fall as a Music Performance major.
This year’s Talent Hunt Chairman, Brother Tom Packer, wishes to thank the Chapter Basileus, James Jackson, Jr., the Talent Hunt Committee, all participants from the Pinellas County Center of the Arts and Dr. Cody Clark for his steadfast support and encouragement.
