Things would have been drastically different if the Jan. 6 insurrectionists had been Black

Untold millions in the United States and across the world saw the real meaning of white privilege on Jan. 6, 2021.

On Dec. 28, NBC News Justice reporter Ryan J. Reilly wrote a pretty thorough article that focused on the testimony of a key witness at the House Select Committee’s Jan. 6 hearing. The witness was William J. Walker, the House Sergeant at Arms, who was head of the D.C. National Guard during the attack on the Capitol.

Walker offered his pointed opinion, suggesting that law enforcement responses would have looked much different had the rioters been Black.

Walker told congressional investigators: “I’m African American. Child of the sixties. I think it would have been a vastly different response if those were African Americans trying to breach the Capitol. As a career law enforcement officer, part-time soldier, last five years full time, but a law enforcement officer my entire career, the law enforcement response would have been much different.”

Truth be told, Walker’s testimony lends credibility to the belief of millions of Americans, President Biden included, that systemic racism allowed the insurrectionists to damage and trash the Capitol, threaten the lives of lawmakers and staff, cause the death of a rioter and law enforcement officers, seriously injure law enforcement officers, brazenly steal government properties, chant hang Mike Pence, and disrupt a formal congressional deliberation and simply walk away untouched.

Yes, Walker’s testimony was daunting but NOT surprising. His testimony can serve as a wake-up call to all the liberal and almost liberal whites to fully understand that systemic racism was on display for the world to see.

Untold millions in the United States and foreign countries saw the real meaning of white privilege. The fact that Trump has yet to be put in handcuffs is pathetically another indication of white privilege.

Just think for a brief moment that President Obama had done only one or two things Trump has been accused of. Things would have been different, and the narratives would not sound the same.

Comedian Earthquack performed a routine on a Netflix special whereby he said if he was a Capitol police officer during the riot, he would have been popping rioters all over the place (while imitating his indiscriminate shootings to the right, left, upwards, etc.). After emptying his weapon, he said he would have grabbed another officer’s gun by saying, “Give me your gun, you’re not using it,” and then continued his indiscriminate shootings.

Comedy aside, this is believed to be the attitude law enforcement would have taken if the rioters had been Black.

Sometimes, comedy can mirror reality.
