Creation: A Complete Thought

BY REV. DORAL PULLEY

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1

Creation is an act of the mind. Before God spoke anything into existence, God created it in Divine Mind. Before God made anything, God thought about it. God created everything in Divine Mind first and then played it out day by day.

God knew that Adam and Eve would fall short and disobey the simple command of not eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. That’s why God said, “the day that you eat of it you will surely die (Genesis 2:17).” Notice God did not say “if you eat of it.”   God already knew the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10). In Divine Mind, God knew that creatures were going to sin, miss the mark. That’s why God already planned our redemption and restoration through Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ, is our Wayshower, our example of what it be a son or daughter of God. Through Jesus Christ, we are awakened to the truth of who we are as God’s creation.   Paul referred to Jesus as the Second Adam because Jesus brings us back to the Garden of Eden and empowers each of us to make a different choice (I Corinthians 15:47). Instead of eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, we can eat from the tree of life.

God’s thoughts about creation were not incomplete. God’s thoughts were full and complete. Creation was a complete thought. Let us follow God’s example and think things through completely before we make a decision. Let us look at the situation from various vantage points before we create it. Let us consider the pros and the cons of our choices. Let us have a plan for however our decision play out.
