African fashions glow in the rain

By Allen A. Buchanan, Feature Writer

ST. PETERSBURG — Reader’s Choice Bookstore and Gift Expressions put on a traditional African attire fashion show at Skyway Mall last Sat., Feb 6. Saxophonist Henry Ashwood serenaded community artists, writers and citizens who came out in the rain to see the show.

Tangela Murph Bailey, owner of Reader’s Choice, started the colorful event by introducing several locally published female writers including Swiyyah Woodard, Linda Mobley and Shakeerah Oatis. Next, Bailey introduced Tori Thomas, a nationally known show host who moved to St. Petersburg from Orlando, as Mistress of Ceremonies and the show got underway.

Models wore attire available at the bookstore.
