AKA’s Pearls of Service Awardees

Each year, March is designated as National Women’s History Month to ensure that the history of American women will be recognized and celebrated in communities throughout the country.

The ladies of the Zeta Up­silon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. are pleased to announce it has selected four women to receive the 2014 Pearls of Service Award in honor of Women’s History Month. The celebration will culminate at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 25 at Enoch Davis Center, 1111 18th Ave. S. in St. Petersburg. The event is free and open to the public.

The 2014 Pearls of Service Award is an excellent opportunity to showcase extraordinary women in the community as pioneering role models who are blazing new trails in their field of work. Among those who will be honored and receive special recognition for their accomplishments include:

• Dr. Kanika Tomalin, Deputy Mayor, City of St. Pe­tersburg
• Delphinia Davis, Chair­man, St. Petersburg Housing Authority Board
• Lounell Britt, Executive Director, James B. Sanderlin Center
• Angela Rouson, Board Member, Juvenile Welfare Board

The recognition program will commence with a meet and greet reception at 6:30 p.m. followed by introductions of the 2014 Pearls of Service honorees.
