We are made in the image and likeness of God. Each of us are unique expressions of the Divine; therefore, God has given each of us gifts, talents, skills and abilities. The more that we are aware of the truth that we are all God’s children, the more that we discover the gifts that our Heavenly Father has given us.
Our gifts are to be discovered, cultivated and celebrated. We discover our gifts through exposure to diverse environments and through various life experiences. Once our gifts are discovered, we cultivate our gifts through education both theory and practice. We celebrate our gifts through the investment of our time and our money.
For several years, Unity of Midtown has sponsored a Theatre Party in collaboration with American Stage. In celebration of the gifts of writing, acting, sound, lighting, costume design, etc., we bring people together to eat, fellowship and experience the final dress rehearsal for one of the August Wilson plays. “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone” is the final play in the Wilson series.
No matter the setting (inside the church or outside the church) whenever we utilize and celebrate our God-given gifts, God is glorified. We invite you to be a part of this celebration of artistic gifts on Tuesday, January 17 at 5:30 pm for the reception and 7 pm for the play.
Rev. Doral Pulley is the senior pastor of Unity of Midtown, 511 Prescott St. S, St. Petersburg.
