City presents “This is my city: St. Pete Stories,” A community conversation

ST. PETERSBURG — Mayor Rick Kriseman and the City of St. Petersburg invite everyone in St. Petersburg to a conversation about the real life story of our whole community. “This is my city: St. Pete Stories” will be held Thurs., June 25, 6 to 8 p.m., at the St. Petersburg College Allstate Center, 3200 34th St. S.

“This is my city: St Pete Stories” is part of a larger City of St Petersburg “Inclusion and Sensitivity” initiative headed by two area diversity consultants; Competency & Performance Solutions, a Tampa firm and Communication Research Enterprises based here in St Petersburg, and Your Real Stories, a storytelling non-profit, which is producing the event. The City of St Petersburg is the presenting sponsor.

The public is invited to come for the free theater performance of local stories by professional actors, stay to add their voices to the city’s collective history, enjoy the music and the refreshments and talk with others about their vision for St. Pete.

“These community conversations are about diverse segments of our community coming together and sharing our unique stories with one another,” said Mayor Rick Kriseman. “We want to have real conversations about inclusiveness, our similarities, as well as our differences – which is what makes our community so remarkable – in a meaningful way.”

This is the first of four community conversations to be hosted by the City of St. Petersburg. The others are scheduled for July 21, 2015 at the J.W. Cate Center 5801 22nd Ave. N.; August 27 at Lake Vista Recreation Center, 1401 62nd Ave. S, and October 13 at Sunken Gardens, 1825 4th St. N. All programs run from 6 to 8 p.m., and all the venues are wheelchair accessible and all programs will be ASL interpreted.

All of the events are free and open to the public. However, space is limited. Organizers kindly request people to register online at stpetestories.eventbrite.com to reserve a seat.
