Creative Pinellas continues arts summer camp grants

Make sure your child has a fun and stimulating summer! Apply for the Arts Summer Camp Grant before funds run out.

PINELLAS COUNTY — Creative Pinellas is delighted to announce the return of its Arts Summer Camp Grant, which was created to allow more young people (ages 5-18) in Pinellas County to have great arts and cultural experiences at area arts summer camps. Applications opened last week and will close by either depletion of grant funds or by Aug. 9.

“Allowing children, from a young age, to experience the joy of artmaking in all forms is a true gift, and we are excited that we can facilitate that for our area’s young artists and fans,” said Creative Pinellas CEO Margaret Murray.

Eligible campers, including students who attend Title I schools, receive a reduced or free lunch, live in designated neighborhoods, or meet other requirements, can apply directly to Creative Pinellas for a grant to attend an arts-related camp program session this summer. Camp attendance can be at qualified nonprofit Pinellas County arts organizations, other nonprofit organizations that offer arts-specific summer camp programs, as well as community centers, city parks and recreation programs and other locations.

“All youth in Pinellas County deserve a great arts summer camp experience,” said Creative Pinellas Director of Grants Todd Wellman. “Creative Pinellas is thrilled to invest tens of thousands each year in future Artists of Pinellas County.”

Creative Pinellas has made it ultra-easy to apply for grants. There is an online application at creativepinellas.org/gotosummercamp and links to organizations that offer arts-related camp programs. The webpage provides detailed information about eligibility and how to complete the process.

“This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” said a camper’s parent. “My daughter felt welcomed and cared for, and she got to end her summer on a positive note.”
