The St. Petersburg Summer Band Camp 2026 is a five-day, HBCU-inspired overnight band experience designed to develop musicianship, discipline, leadership, cultural pride, and performance excellence.
Hosted by Mt. Zion Progressive Missionary Baptist Church in partnership with Mt. Zion Human Services, Inc., the camp will give young musicians the opportunity to participate in full ensemble rehearsals, sectionals, masterclasses, leadership development, marching and conditioning, mentorship, and a culminating field showcase.
The camp will be led by Dr. Julian E. White, retired Distinguished Professor of Music, former Director of Bands, and former Chairman of the Music Department at Florida A&M University. A longtime leader of FAMU’s renowned Marching “100,” Dr. White brings decades of experience developing student musicians and shaping one of the nation’s most recognized HBCU band traditions. The camp will also include alumni of the Florida A&M University Marching “100” and Bethune-Cookman University band programs.
Students will benefit from on-campus accommodations, daily meals, wellness activities, and meaningful exposure to college and career pathways.
Camp dates are June 8–12, 2026, with check-in on Sunday, June 7 at 4:00 PM at Mt. Zion Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, 955 20th St. S., St. Petersburg, FL 33712. Tuition is $200 per student.
Parents, guardians, and band directors are encouraged to complete the interest form for additional details.
