Fred Johnson on the Deuces at Strings, Arts & Healing Fest, Saturday, Aug 19 at 7 pm

Bringing culture on the Deuces on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 4 p.m. Echambliss.Artist presents the “Strings, Arts & Healing Fest,” featuring Fred Johnson, artist-in-residence at The Straz Center in Tampa Florida, in collaboration with Seven C Music. Fred Johnson performs on the cora in a stringed music performance, along with sound healers, West African Drums, storytelling, and artwork with a musical theme by local artists.

The event will be held at Seven C Music, 535 22nd St. South, St. Petersburg, 33712, bringing a presentation on the healing power of music along with audience talkback and a visual art exhibit to the midtown community.

“The purpose of this event is to integrate a variety of art forms in order to encourage new cultural experiences both for the audience and the artists while celebrating the healing experience through sounds and art,” said Elaine Chambliss.

Fred Johnson L.R.F. is an artist-in-residence at the Starz Center for Performing Arts in Tampa. Johnson is an educator dedicated to the journey of creating space to manifest the restoration of our highest equitable shared energy, manifesting the greatest good for all.

He is recognized globally for his work in the health and wellness community as well as his extensive work in international Interfaith peace and reconciliation.

Johnson has opened for both Aretha Franklin and Dr. Deepak Chopra, pointing to his versatility as an artist and healer. An acclaimed jazz vocalist, sacred chanter, storyteller, author, and arts educator, he is a graduate of the National Academy of the Performing Arts as well as the Master Performers School of the National Mime Theater. He also studied abstract painting at the National Academy of Art and Design.

He has opened for or recorded and toured worldwide with jazz and R&B legends, including Ramsey Lewis, Chick Corea, Sonny Rollins, Christian McBride, George Benson, David Sanborn, B. B. King, Patti LaBelle, Dizzy Gillespie, Nat Adderley, and Miles Davis.

Elaine Chambliss (Echambliss.Artist), transitioned from the technical field of Computer-Aided Drafting in Civil Engineering to becoming a visual artist, painting and selling her own art through showings and exhibitions.

She was awarded the Industrial Dome Award from Warehouse District and the Individual Artist award through Pinellas Art Alliance and served as a member of the Arts Advisory Committee with the City of St. Petersburg, and the Warehouse District Education Board. She often partners with other organizations to “promote strength, share heritage, and encourage growth.”

A graduate of the St. Pete Workforce Entrepreneurship Program, Art Business Academy through St. Petersburg College, and the Greenhouse Entrepreneur Academy, she shares her skill with the community as a part-time instructor at St Petersburg Pinellas Technical College.

She has recently opened studio space in the heart of the community at 1326 Dr. MLK Jr. St S. St. Petersburg, FL 33701 on the 2nd floor over the Queen Hair and Beauty Supply store. There she will work in collaboration with artists and community engagement specialists such as Fred Johson and other outreach sources to bring the power of healing through the Arts and confidence-building workshops.
