Scripture – “Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (II Corinthians 3:17).”
Denial – “I AM not bound by any person, substance or activity.”
Affirmation – “I AM free to be me.”
Liberty is the freedom to be who God has called me to be. Liberty is the freedom to say what God has called me to say. Liberty is the freedom to go where God has called me to go. Liberty is the freedom to do what God has called me to do.
Jesus, our Wayshower, was not bound by the nails in his hands or the nails in his feet. Although he was being crucified and the subject of public humiliation and scorn, he was free. I AM is what made Jesus free during the most challenging experience of his life and ministry.
Jesus was not on the cross alone. He was in the middle of two men who had a challenge with theft. They both were guilty of the crime that they had been accused and they were receiving the legal consequences for their actions. Despite the fact that he was innocent, Jesus was exactly where he was supposed to be. He was being who he was, a liberator, and doing exactly what he was called to do, setting people free from guilt, shame and condemnation.
Jesus was on the cross to awaken the consciousness of the men who were there with him to the I AM. Through the I AM, he was giving each of them an opportunity to be free. “Today, you will be with me in paradise (One accepted the liberty that was his all the time and the other rejected it. Understanding the I AM, keeps us free from the bondage to external circumstances so that we can always live in paradise and present others with this same opportunity to be free.
