Learn more about PCSB’s 70 magnet, fundamental and career programs at upcoming Choice Fairs

 

PINELLAS COUNTY — It is now time for parents to start looking for the educational opportunities that will serve as the right fit for their children. All of the district’s application programs for 2019-2020 school year will be showcased at three Choice Fairs, where parents will be able to explore programs and talk with program representatives.

District Application Programs offer rigorous educational pathways to guide students based on their interests from kindergarten through 12th grade.  Students are offered a world of choices with more than 70 magnet, fundamental and career programs that focus on students’ interests, talents and abilities. A wide range of thematic options inspire students and help them build the skills they need to be successful in college, careers and in life.

The newest programs include elementary gifted and cultural arts magnets at Midtown

Academy and an arts conservatory program at Sandy Lane Elementary in Clearwater will start next school year. A first-of-its-kind technical school opened in August. Richard O. Jacobson Technical High School at Seminole offers seven programs: Nursing, Veterinary Assisting, Building and Construction Design Technology, Electricity, Digital and Graphic Arts, Marine Mechanics, and Game and Simulation Programming.

Parent Application Workshop — Learn how to apply for District Application Programs:

  • Oct. 22: 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Countryside High, 3000 SR 580, Clearwater

Choice Fairs — Learn more about our magnet, fundamental, and career academy programs:

  • Nov. 1: 6 – 8 p.m. at Gibbs High School, 850 34th St S, St. Petersburg
  • Nov. 3: 9 a.m. – noon at Largo High School, 410 Missouri Ave N, Largo
  • Nov. 8: 6 – 8 p.m.at Dunedin High School, 1651 Pinehurst Rd, Dunedin

Discovery Nights — Visit schools and explore programs in more detail.

  • Oct. 29-Dec. 21

Application Period: Jan. 9-18, 2019

Acceptance Period: Feb. 13-22, 2019
