LARGO — Creative Pinellas is pleased to announce the latest exhibition to be featured at their gallery in Pinewood Park. “Out of Eden” is a nature-inspired exhibition of works by internationally acclaimed Cuban-American artist Yolanda Sánchez.

An opening reception will be held on Thursday, Jan. 19 from 6-8 p.m. The exhibition will run through, with additional events planned.

‘Unforbidden Pleasures’

“We are always pursuing opportunities to bring both tourists and residents of the Arts Coast fresh and inspiring artwork that is easily accessible from anywhere in the county,” said Barbara St. Clair, CEO of Creative Pinellas. “With “Out of Eden,” Yolanda Sánchez, a Miami-based artist, gives us a new look into nature, something that is very important to us here in Pinellas County, and we are so thrilled to bring this exhibition here.”

This exhibition will take you on a creative meditation of natural beauty. Her textiles are created using the traditional Korean Bojagi wrapping technique while her fabric choice and color are anything but traditional. Her artwork is full of lush, vibrant colors that reflect the landscape surrounding the Gallery at Creative Pinellas and all of Pinewood Park.

“I do think of Eden as an idyllic physical space, Sánchez said. “But I think of it more as a state of mind, a kind of awareness of delight and beauty, or contentment accompanied by a feeling of pleasure.  I hope to encourage joy and wonder, while inspiring a bit of fantasy, play and optimism.” She added, “Will you see that the world is really quite beautiful?”

The “Out of Eden” reception and exhibition are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Wednesday through Sunday at the Gallery at Creative Pinellas, 12211 Walsingham Road, Largo, adjacent to the Florida Botanical Gardens.

Artwork will be available for sale at the gallery and will also be available to view and purchase online in a virtual gallery at Creative Pinellas.org/OUTOFEDEN.
