Pinellas County School updates

PCS kindergarten and new student registration continue

Pinellas County Schools encourages families of new students, including soon-to-be kindergarteners to register their children for 2015-16 school year before this year’s school year ends.  The district is urging parents to register their children by June 2 at their zoned school. Students entering kindergarten must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2015, to attend school next school year. Find out more by visiting the district’s New Student Registration Web page, www.pcsb.org/new or calling the district’s Student Assignment office at (727) 588-6210.

Families encouraged to apply to openings in PCS choice programs

The Late Application Period for the district’s choice programs is underway. Nearly 40 programs have remaining seats available for students. Parents of students entering grades K-12 are encouraged to apply to programs with availability, including the district’s five newest programs. If seats are currently not available for one of the district’s 70 choice programs, students can apply to be added to a program’s wait list. During the Late Application Period, geographic application area restrictions have been lifted for several programs with seat availability. This means students countywide can apply to these programs, as long as the program’s criteria are met. Be sure to visit www.pcsb.org/choice for a complete list of choice programs with seat availability, as well as programs with geographic restrictions.
