Earl “The Twirl” Christy, former Super Bowl Champion and ambassador for the league

ST. PETERSBURG — The St. Petersburg Tide, of the newly formed Professional Spring American Football League, is making a big splash in the Tampa Bay area. Having already played two games, this team consisting of some local talent, a wide open offense and stingy defense has amassed a 130-0 combined score of the two games.

“We’re putting together an offensive package built around a run and shoot philosophy,” said Earl “The Twirl” Christy, former Super Bowl Champion and ambassador for the league. “The Tide will roll with wide open American football strategy, some fantastic halftime entertainment and an infectious energy that will carry this squad to a championship.”

The community is invited to take part in this exciting brand of football. The next game for the St. Petersburg Tide is scheduled for May 24 at 3 p.m. and is free to the public. This community game will be played at Campbell Park’s Oliver Field, located at 601 14th St. S., St Petersburg,

The game will be played there instead of their home location, Al Lang Field, so that they can showcase games around the community promote fans support.

“We are part of the PSAFL (Professional Spring American Football League) dedicated to enhancing a quality product of professional and highly skilled All America, Divisions I and II all-stars to participate in our league,” said Dan Miles, general manager and head coach of the Tide.

“We want to build an organization around young men with sportsmanship and character,” said Christy. “We have a talented group of young men who harbor the spirit of a champion. That spirit starts with head coach Dan Miles.”
