WADA artists, Pastor Louis Murphy Sr., and members of Mt. Zion Progressive have joined hands to create a magical Christmas village at Mt. Zion, showcasing the spirit of unity and festive cheer.
ST. PETERSBURG – The Warehouse Arts District Association (WADA) and Mt. Zion Progressive Missionary Baptist Church are thrilled to announce an exciting and inaugural collaboration that will light up the holiday season and physically connect two vibrant communities located along the historic Deuces Corridor.
WADA artists will contribute to the village’s creation by painting and decorating six sets of buildings in the days leading up to the event. Once assembled, this holiday village will be erected at Mt. Zion Progressive, 955 20th St S.
The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Dec. 9, aligning with the city-wide Second Saturday ArtWalk, a celebration of arts and community. The festivities will commence at 6 p.m. at Mt Zion Progressive and promise a night filled with holiday joy.
Attendees can expect a wondrous display of creativity as the Christmas village unfolds, adorned with twinkling lights and holiday decorations. Carolers will enchant visitors with melodious tunes, and hot chocolate stations will warm hearts on this joyful evening.
Adding to the magical atmosphere, a snow machine will sprinkle a dusting of winter magic, creating a picturesque setting for families and friends to enjoy. Star Trolley will provide free transportation, serving as a physical connector between Mt. Zion Progressive and WADA throughout the evening, bridging the communities along the historic Deuces Corridor.
The highlight of the evening will be the tree lighting and proclamation at 6:30 p.m. at Mt Zion, symbolizing the commencement of the holiday season and the spirit of togetherness. Following a second proclamation at the ArtsXchange at 8 p.m., Mt. Zion’s esteemed choir, band and mime ensemble will grace the WADA ArtsXchange stage with a soul-stirring performance, marking a perfect end to this enchanted night.
This collaboration is a testament to the strength of partnerships and community bonds. The aim is to unite people during the holiday season and create lasting memories in the heart of our city. This event is open to all and free to attend, embracing the true essence of the holiday season.
“We are excited to collaborate with Mt.
